Inside the Atelier

“Every Bolden piece begins in our family atelier, where generations of craftsmanship meet a modern design vision. Each creation goes through months of design, development, and refinement, working closely with expert platers and gemstone setters to achieve the level of quality we stand for."

Follow the journey of your Bolden jewelry — from concept to the final, gleaming piece.

01. THE DESIGN PROCESS

Inspiration comes from everywhere — art history, interiors, or even light and form. We start by shaping ideas into visual moodboards, exploring color, shape, and texture.

Sketches follow, then team discussions where the strongest designs are chosen to develop a concept and to sample.

02. CREATING CADS & MAKING A MOULD

Once the designs are selected, they’re turned into life-size technical drawings then into 3D CAD models, allowing us to visualize each piece from every angle.

Once the 3D CAD has been printed, a rubber mould is then made so that we can use this as the master for all future pieces.

03. THE WAX TREE, CASTING & FILING OUR PIECES

Using this mould, wax versions of the pieces are produced and assembled on what’s called a wax tree. These wax forms are then prepared for casting.

Gold and silver come in here. The metal is poured into moulds forming each design. Once cooled, the pieces are separated from the tree, hand-filed, and polished.

04. ASSEMBLING, SETTING & GOLD PLATING

This is where the fine details come to life. Components are soldered together, stonesare carefully set by hand, and clasps or finishing touches are added with precision.

Our gold-plated pieces feature a thick layer of 18ct gold — 2.5 microns on sterling silver for vermeil, and 2 microns for larger styles.

We never use flash plating or gold-tone finishes. Each piece is plated to last, ensuring lasting shine and durability.
